Some features of our school
Overseas-famed boy handball team:
Our school handball team was founded in the year 1991.
However in the past decade history, these little brave
fighters have won its many glorious battle and has conquered
even abroad. In the year 1998, July, our school team has
represented Taiwan to race in Denmark and has won the
championship for this age category.
Daring soldier
In the year 1998, one of our school journalist who wrote in
our newsletter mark this great moment:
The handball team from Wun-Chang elementary school,
Taichung City, on July 3rd, with all the
blessings they could get has left for Denmark for the world
cup competition. They may look as petit as they can be, when
compared with the tall and large European boys, they didn’t
seem afraid at all. They have won in the fifth grade
category the champion, and the sixth grade category the
second runner-up. The principal at this time Ms. Su Shei-jen
said that due to the limited budget this year, we only sent
out 14 in the team. They are: Jian-hei Wu, Se-young Chow,
Yu-hung Yu, jeng-Sian Chou, Chwan-Hou Luang, Bo-an Tsai,
She-Shu Chang, Jung-yu Chan, Jung-Min Tsai, Jung-Shian Wu,
Jung-wei Chou, Wen-youg Lin, and Jian-Hung Chan.
In the past years, our school hand ball teams have repeated
participated in many games in the world and have won many
times. For instance, in Spain, 1995, we have won the fifth
and sixth grade championship. Domestically, in 1995, we have
won in the friendship competition, in the national game, we
have won the second runner-up, in 1996, we have won the
championship for the central Island 5 county competition,
and the first runner-up for the tournament, 1997, we have
won the teacher-student cup the second runner-up and won the
qualification for the world championship.
Hand ball player Se-Young Chow said: “ After winning the
qualifying position , every members were more than happy and
had made a wish to try our best to win the world champion
for our country.” They have trained very hard ,plus under
the chief coach’s guidelines, they have improved a lot in
their skills of shooting and passing the balls.
After the game race in Europe, the team has visited
Germany, Belgium and France. They have been to the most
famous palace “Versailles”, les Champs-Elysees, the l’arc de
triumph and even to the Euro-Disney. All these exciting and
fun places have definitely leave them a lifetime memory.
